Avengers: Endgame is an epic, make no mistake. Now, the word “epic” gets thrown around so much, that it’s impossible to tell when it’s being used in the proper context. So, I will tell you again. Avengers: Endgame is an epic, make no mistake. And what a glorious epic it is.

When Infinity War hit theaters a year ago, it was unsurprisingly successful. The film was enjoyable yet scattershot, more of a collection of scenes than a smoothly flowing film. There was quite a bit of eye candy to be enjoyed, but some of the character moments felt weightless. The stakes, despite being cataclysmic, were always going to be reversed. There was clearly a part two coming. The ending rang hollow. Like Marvel was going to kill Black Panther, their new cash cow, just a few months after he made them a billion dollars? Please. *condescending scoff*

To their credit, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directors Anthony and Joe Russo do a great job making the stakes in Endgame feel real. The weight of the universe truly rests on the shoulders of our heroes this time, and it is felt by the audience. This is one of the most anxiety-inducing films I have ever seen. Every decision…
