I guess what I’m getting at is that, like the mafia films such as Goodfellas, The Social Network was a condemnation of a man who did immoral things to get to where he was — while also showing us the seductive aspects of the central characters’ respective worlds. They’re sleek, fun films that nonetheless leave their lead characters alone and soulless. I know they’re odd films to compare, but I find a lot of parallels between Henry Hill and Mark Zuckerberg, even if their worlds are totally different.
